Modesto Junior College Earth Day Event Civic Engagement Project Green Committee 10:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Davis Electric Cars will display their Zap Car and Toyota will display several vehicles using
hybrid technology. You will be able to stop by the Student Environmentalist Organization (SEO) to learn your
"Carbon Foot Print" or bring your cans and bottles to the Project Green/SEO Recycling Center. Great Valley
Museum will bring over some live animals and Catherine Greene will provide a solar oven demonstration. There will
also be "green giveaways" of trees, native plants, other items, and "green demos" showcasing environmentally
friendly products.

WHITE, EISENHUT OUT AND ABOUT: Democratic candidates for the 25th and 26th Assembly Districts will participate
in a social fund-raiser Saturday in Patterson. Taylor White, for the 25th district, and John Eisenhut, for the 26th, will
be at the home of Dennis and Grace McCord, 417 Sanderling Drive, from 4 to 8 p.m. The event is $20 and includes snacks, appetizers
and drinks. Proceeds will help establish a Democratic office in Patterson. White also will attend an event for the Calaveras
County Democratic Central Committee on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in Murphys. The event, a build-your-own taco and ice cream sundae
social with a no-host bar, is at the Native Sons Hall on Main Street and is $25. For information, call 559-2673 or e-mail

The World Famous Mother Lode Round-Up Parade kicks off in Downtown Sonora at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10th, and will feature nearly 200 parade entries marching, trotting
and rolling down the entire length of Washington Street. As usual, thousands of spectators can be expected, lining the street
to watch and cheer. The Parade is recognized as the second largest parade in California (second only to the Rose Bowl Parade).
It draws over 50,000 visitors and spectators and has become one of “the events to see” in California. The Parade
has grown to 5 Sections of over 200 entries.
Remember, the Parade begins at 10am on Saturday, May 10th and there’ll
be a crowd so get there early to find a place to park and to stake your claim on place watch along Washington Street. Be sure to give a shout out and wave to Taylor as he passes by in the parade!
